Cell therapy manufacturing

The recent growth in the importance and potential of regenerative medicine has seen the need for large scale production of cells increase.  In most cases the relative value of the cells is almost immeasurable when consideration is given to the patient under treatment and the harvesting of the cells.  Whilst processing steps within the manufacture of cells are performed in closed systems, it is always advisable, if not essential to process samples in aseptic conditions, even between closed system steps.  The risk from microbial contamination is high and the after-effects would be catastrophic.  Performing as many steps as possible under isolation following effective disinfection is the safest method to achieve this.
