Intensive Care Units are characterized by time pressures and a high proportion of patients vulnerable to HCAIs, which cause increased morbidity and length of stay. Reducing length of stay is a key target for most hospitals, given the increasing pressure on hospital beds and the significant costs associated with beds being ‘blocked’. In order to reduce the risk of these patients becoming infected, and ultimately reduce HCAI rates, the hospital is able to deploy Bioquell engineers to decontaminate rooms on either a preventative or reactive basis.
