Lax attitudes help spread deadly hospital infections

Too many Americans go into hospitals for treatment and end up getting sicker.

Just how many was exposed two years ago, when a Centers for Disease Control study of 2002 data estimated that 1.7 million patients annually suffer from care-related infections, most of them preventable, resulting in nearly 100,000 deaths.
